Developed by the Ars Electronica Futurelab, the Arsbox is a system for the presentation of Immersive Virtual Environments (IVE) experiences, and is built from inexpensive, yet powerful consumer hardware rather than expensive specialized equipment. Using a variable amount of wall projections, 3D shutter glasses, an electromagnetic motion tracking system, the Arsbox surrounds users with huge, interactive 3D projections.
For this exhibition, two projects, CAVE, and Concrete, will be shown in the Arsbox environment. These projects thematicize a wide variety of different three-dimensional digital spaces: CAVE construes a domain for contemplative thought, and Concrete transforms the Arsbox into a game room.

Computer-generated structures conduct visitors through a surreal urban space. The encounter with an overload of visual impressions and the user’s reaction to this lead to the gradual deconstruction of the content.
